Update (Spoiler Warning)

Confirmed- Alias will return, but not for a full 22 episodes. According to Kristin at EOnline, Alias is set to return this spring (date still unknown) but ABC has cut the 22 episode season to 17. 9 have already aired, so that leaves us with 8, count them, 8 episodes of Alias. The returning episode 5.10 "S.O.S." is scheduled to be a 2 hour episode.

Sad pandas my little Alias fans, but we still get Vaughn, Will and Irina!!

By calling 5.10 a 2hr episode, does that mean there's 18? (i.e. 9 hours left)

If we go by what we've been hearing all along, then 5.10 and 5.11 are the 2hrs and we'd have 5.12-5.17 for the rest of the season.

Also, did Kristin get a date for the return???

I think, yes, that 5.10 is 2 hours, seperate from 5.11. So yes, 9 hours. No word on the date or if the final episode is 2 hours or not.

thanks for the update GS. Sad pandas yes, but at least we're getting some Alias. Any word on whether there will be a full 22 eppies on the DVD?

I would imagine there not even taping a full 22 episodes. What would they leave out of the remaining 8? It seems like there would be some story inconsistencies. That would be good for the true Alias fans though, more reason to buy the DVD when it came out.

The least they could do for us it make them all 2 hour episodes.

What? That's not fair and not right. They said all this stuff about sending Alias off with a good and decent good-bye. If they cut the episodes down it will be neither. It's disrespectful to the people who worked on it and to the fans. I mean I could understand 21 episodes maybe even 20. But 17 that's terrible and rude.

ABC totally killed this show. I don't think I can ever forgive them. Alias was going good and strong until they started fiddling with it and changing show times and firing people. This totally blows! Thanks for the update:)

Of course this is ABC's fault. They are renoun for killing brilliant shows. Anyone remember "Sports Night" created by Alan Sorkin? If not, it is because ABC killed it in 2000. It was one of the best TV sitcoms ever, if not THE best, but they barely let it finish its second season. in reality, we are just lucky to get 5 seasons of ALIAS...

...but, oh, hey, lets keep reinventing insipid detective/ cop shows like no one will notice.

Umm, according to Kristin from E!Online, Alias isn't coming back until April 19th!!!

"I heard last night from a reliable source (and confirmed with another this a.m.) that ...

ALIAS IS COMING BACK IN APRIL FOR 8 FINAL HOURS ON WEDNESDAY NIGHTS AT 8 PM!

April 19th is the day of the midseason premiere, I believe.

I'm told that there will be a two-hour midseason premiere, then four episodes, then a 2-hour finale in May.

Yippee Kai Yay!

All this is expected to be announced on Monday."

While I am obviously excited that the show is coming back, I am still getting over the upset of the short season and then ABC makes us wait another month and a half....

I have never disliked a TV station in my entire life before this season....

I've always been pretty loyal to ABC, more then the other networks. Watched their news broadcasts over the others (mostly due to Peter Jennings though, I miss him), gave their new shows a chance and held them in higher regard then the others. They brought me two of my favorite shows (Alias and Lost) and my favorite journalist. If ABC screws us and Alias over I won't be loyal anymore and will tune into Lost and that's about it. Though I've heard rumors that LOST might make a move so who knows if I'll have to tune into ABC then anyway. I agree roberton, enough with the cop/detective/forensic shows. They are all too much alike, and with the exception of Bones and Numbers which I think may actually go somewhere and actually do have interesting and complex character plots, the rest could just end or I don't know maybe we could just have one CSI or one Law and Order??? Here's what I can't get over, why can't they just make 22 episodes and end it nicely and respectfully. Heck I wouldn't care if they waited till summer to bring it back if it meant I got to see Alias the way it was meant to be. ABC has done enough to Alias over the years, just leave it alone and let it end peacefully!

I only counted 6 episodes in the article from Kristin with EOnline. It says there will be a 2 hour return show, 4 more then a 2 hour finale, which if I'm not mistaken is only 1 hour of show and 1 hour of recaps/highlights. Isn't that only 6 episodes? I thought we were getting 8. Anyone else confused by that?

jess517 said...

The way that Kristin from Eonline explained it, there will be 8 more HOURS of Alias, not 8 more episodes. Just another example of ABC screwing Alias over, first they say 8 episodes now its 8 hours....

so if we've already had 9 and we're only getting 6 more, then that means we're only getting a 15 show season and not 17 which was the word last week and down from 22. What is going on? You mean to tell me the writers are going to answers ost or all of our questions in 6 episodes, 2 of which were taped in December?
