Baby and Other News

Good morning all and happy Friday!

First up, an Alias baby boom is taking place! Congrats to Kevin Weisman (Marshall Flinkman) and his wife Jodi, who are expecting their first child together. Looks as if Jen isn't the only cast member on the family fence.

Second, as some of you many know, I have been discussing starting a new blog once Alias has wrapped up. I plan to keep Let's Talk open and active once the finale has aired, but I would like to move on to another show. There were several wonderful ideas post by all of you, ranging from Lost to Gilmore Girls, but I think I have decided on a show for my new blog. The new blog won't begin until after Alias is over, but I plan to start watching episodes of the new show on DVD so I can become familiar with the plot, storylines and characters. If you are not a frequent watcher of this show, let's do this together. I have not seen an episode, but from what I gather it's much like Alias. With that said, drum roll please... the new blog will be centered around...24!

Again, the new blog will be up and running 2 weeks after Alias has wrapped, giving us plenty of time to discuss the finale and mourn. Thanks to all of you who gave input into the new blog.

I will be posting a Friday post a bit later today! Stay tuned...

Awesome Mike! Well, then hopefully you can help me out with some of the blogs once it gets started. I hope a bunch who haven't watched the show feel inspired to watch 24 and stick with the blog, it will be great.

I really love 24. I never watched the series on TV until this year. I have been anxiously waiting each year for the DVDs to come out so that I may watch the show en-marathona. (Don't you love making up words?)
There are some pretty significant differences between ALIAS and 24, though. In ALIAS there is always a continuous mystery that we spend all week trying to hash out with one another. 24 often shows us what the bad-guys are doing and leaves very little to speculation. I know this blogsite will have enjoyable articles and conversations; I'm just saying it will be more difficult.

Maybe I'm wrong; maybe I have this view because I always watched the show on DVD. The truth of the matter is: you just cannot replace ALIAS. It is a one of a kind.

Well put, there is just no replacing it! I am going to miss it. *crossing fingers for spin-off*

I'm excited for a 24 blog! I only started watching it in the middle of last season but I really enjoy the characters, storylines and how it's filmed. I haven't seen any of seasons 1-3, so it would be fun to rent the DVDs and catch up w/ everyone. :) Looking forward to it...although I'm not looking forward to the end of our beloved Let's Talk Alias. Sigh...all good things etc etc.

Thanks Guys for your imput, this is helping. I have been doing a little research too. I am going to watch the first season and see if I have any ideas. If I feel like it won't work out, then I will choose something else, but for now, I am sticking with Keifer!!

It's certainly a good choice, GS. The only other shows that lend themselves to plot-theory and speculation (that I know of) are Smallville and Battlestar Galactica and those are genre shows that may not appeal to everyone. It seems like 24 is the way to go if you want the same readrs/ bloggers to keep coming back.
(Although, if you ask me Battlestar Galactica is probably the best show out there for the sort of things that attract us to ALIAS. If you don't watch it already, I highly recomend it. Star Trek and Star Wars barely deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Battlestar Galactica. It's not what people expect from a SciFi show. Fridays at 10e/9c on the SciFi channel.)

Hey Guys,

New commenter here. Definitely good show to pick 24 is mindblowing. Seasons 2&3 are my favorite season 2 just like Alias has an awesome plot and so many twists and turns it'll make your head spin and the 3rd season because it just has some many intense moments that blow anything away from the previous seasons and the music in this show is just AHHH. About Battlestar Galactica I totally agree Star Wars and Star Trek don't even deserve to be called Sci-Fi the writing and acting on that show are Superb. If any one needs to know anything about 24 or they're just ask me I'm a 24 nut. But Alias will always be first in my heart.

Sidewinder, so nice to have you! Welcome! You're expertise will be greatly appreciated once the 24 blog is up and running. I think I am going to keep with the Let's Talk theme and call it "Let's Talk 24." Can't wait to get started.

Thanks girlscout! Can't wait but I also don't want Alias to end *cries like a baby*

Robetron is right; the big difference in Alias and 24 is the speculation factor--there just isn't much to speculate about in 24 AFTER the fact. But I have a girlfriend who watches every week in Dallas while I watch in Florida, and the emails fly right after the show while we speculate on what happened. By the next week, though, our questions are usually answered. They are all answered by the end of the season.

But 24 is definitely high action, good characters, and dynamic plots. Lots of characters we love to hate. And Jack Bauer--who could ask for more?

Thank you! I have read this blog since the begining of the season and enjoy your insights. I have been looking for a good blog for "24" but found that like many of the sites for "Alias" there are only shallow, insipid thoughts to be found. I can think of no one better and I look forward to it. Keep up the good work!

I'm going to be kind of lost and have a lot of free time on my hands once Alias is over. It's actually the only TV show I watch. Guess I'll just start working more hours. Maybe I'll go back to writing and finish some of the books I started writing some time ago. I really don't see myself replacing it with another show. It's been some years since I was addicted to a series.

Uncle,
Go rent the first season of Battlestar Galactica. After that, I am confident you will be looking for season 2 (which is on the shelf, but is not yet over on TV - I know, I don't get it either).

Getting into that show will make your cable bill worth it after all.
