Scene Cap of the Week

"I'm afraid you'll betray me again, like you did with Lauren."
The best freakin' moment of season 4. Loved it. In "Nocturne" Sydney is infected with a mind-altering disease. The group is on the hunt for a cure and in the mean time, Sydney is hearing things. Vaughn is on the right track and he leaves Sydney in the van with her father. Sydney believes that her father is saying horrible things about her, about her and her mother, her worst fear being that her father despises her because in her he sees the woman who betrayed him. In this moment, after breaking free from Jack's duct tape job, Sydney confronts Vaughn and expresses her fears about their relationship.
Holding Vaughn at gun point, Sydney worries about what she might have done to her father and what pain Vaughn may cause her in the future. I loved this episode, one, because we see a very vulnerable Sydney and a very talented JG and two, the writers dove into horror movie style material. Very fun, very entertaining!

I totally concur.

You may have caught this before, but at the beginning of the episode, Syd and Vaughn are playing hockey, and he starts talking about advancing thier relationship again. He says, "...really, what are you afraid of?" It's a fantastic portent to where the episode was going; it has beautiful wrap-around.

Nice, I love them playing hockey anyways. Isn't it the time when JG bites it? HAHAHA

I love that we see the fears that Sydney Bristow has in this episode. She is such a kick ass agent all the time and though we see her vulnerable and emotional sides in certain episodes, we rarely see fear. I like the concept of compartmentalization (is that the longest made up word ever?) they explore throughout the series as Syd has to hide her double and triple life from everyone she knows except Jack. I love how we see her struggles with keeping it all together, but still it is usually anger or goals that she is driven by and not fear so much. The other time I remember them addressing fears are regarding Will knowing about Syd's real life and her concern for how this affects him, but it is not the raw emotion in Nocturne. She seems turned inside out so we are finally able to see the part of her persona that is rarely addressed.

Sorry for the run-ons and poor gramatical structure. I am tired tonight!

Delving into the horror genre is what I didn't like about this one(just never developed a taste for it). But I REALLY liked the scenes with Syd and Jack interacting. I do miss my show. Still the only TV I watch is DVD's.

A new alias, Kikiscout?? Are you runnin' from the law, infiltrating the Covenant, entering witness protection?

Or are you, as I've always suspected...........A DOUBLE AGENT?

"Operator, get me Arvin Sloane"

The first time I saw this episode it rubbed me the wrong way (could have been the huge ass torantula, who knows), but watching it again I realized how important it was for the growth of Syd and Vaughn's relationship. As much as the audience might have wanted it, the writers couldn't have started off season 4 with Syd and Vaughn all happy and perfect again, it's just not realistic after what happened in season 3. Not that this show's first priority is realism, but it would have been really foolish to belittle Syd's feelings of betrayal. Syd's hallucinations allowed her to confront her fears and reveal them to Vaughn, thus overcoming the hurtle of distrust between them.

Except for the scenes with Jack/Syd and the cinematography there wasn't much to this for me. This put Jeff Pinkner in the writers doghouse for me and he has yet to get out.

Favorite Alias writers?

I just hope we see Jack Bristow on Justice tonight. I'll be uninterested if we don't.

This was one of the only episodes of Season 4 that I liked in the first go around (later learned to love S4).
