At this moment, Sydney Bristow learns that her mother hired Tomasaki to assasinate her (oh, and she ran Tomasaki through with the Sintaro Sword). This is a huge moment in season 4 and a huge moment for Jack- as Sydney, in a small way, understands why her father killed her mother- to protect her.
I love the character of Tomasaki. I feel like for the first time Sydney meets an enemy she doesn't believe she can beat. Tomasaki killed Nadia's friend and Irina hired him to kill one of the number one CIA agents. There are moments, in the underground parking garage in the dark, where Sydney feels vulnerable, maybe even scared. I think Tomasaki is a great character because he is able to make Sydney feel this way- he makes her human. Alas, Sydney does defeat this nemisis- as usual.

I couldn't agree with you more, GS. This picture captures the moment of Syd realizing that once again her father is her saint and her mother is her devil. Almost like season one when she discovers that her mother was KGB and her father is not.
Yep, very parallel Rudy. I love that we always see eye to eye. It was a great moment. I loved that whole scene with Tomasaki, Sydney tied in the chair, he was so arrogant, teasing her. And then Nadia comes and saves the day. Such a good eppie. I might watch it tonight.
Off topic, but today is greg grunberg 40th birth day!! Happy bday 2 him.
ooh thanks for the tip!
That was a great moment GS, I actually remember when I saw that episode for the first time when he said Irena hired him how shocked I was, and how awesome I thought it was that Alias could STILL surprise me. He was a cool villian, there was an interesting chemistry between him and Syd, I felt like he was in someway attracted to her, did anyone else get that? Not to mention that he's quite good looking hehe...sorry, got distracted. Anyway, I agree that Syd wasn't totally sure she could beat him, but that last fight scene with them was awesome.
Oh, yeah. I felt like there was an attraction. I don't know about sexual, but their was an atheletic and physical one.
