The Wink

Did anyone catch it? The wink. Dixon winked at Weiss, right before he departed the CIA for the White House. It was instantaneous. The wink of foreshadow.

There has been some speculation that Weiss is, in fact, not being promoted, that his new placement in Washington is a cover for more covert operations. And that these operations are in assistance to his best friend and presumed dead buddy, Michael Vaughn. It has been said (by spoiler-diva Kristin at E!) that Dixon and Jack are working on some kind of scheme that would tear Sydney apart. Does the wink imply that Weiss might also be in on it? Does that mean Sydney is in the dark in regards to the vitality of her fiancé? And if Jack, Dixon and Weiss are working together on something, how will this scheme tear Sydney apart?

This is huge, is it not? Thoughts? Ideas?

I wanted to add that I don't think Jack and Dixon and Weiss have a plan to tear Sydney apart, I don't think it's intentional. They obviously know something Sydney doesn't and whatever that is, whatever they are keeping secret might tear her apart. Maybe that Irina is behind P5 or that Vaughn is still alive and maybe isn't who we think. It could a number of things.

Well if Dixon was involved w/ the body box being stolen, that means he would be in league w/ Renee, who we still are undecided on in terms of her loyalties. It reminds me a little of the episode in s4 where they were trying to find the decryption key for that blackmail index (can't remember the exact name). Sloane told everyone that he had no suspects as to who stole it, but in reality he did know. This made him look like he was doing something bad again, but it really was just a setup to catch the old Alliance members.

Nice SRG- Good tie together. Have you considered writing a few pieces for the blog? I would love it!

Well, I wasn't implying that Dixon was involved w/ the blackmail index event, I was just relating the similarity of Sloane not telling everyone everything he knew because he had something going on that was semi-rogue in the background to Dixon not giving out much info. about the body box being stolen, that maybe he also is involved with that somehow...

I am skeptical. I can't help it. The wink seemed to be saying, "I know. I realize you feel you are being unceremoniously brushed asside, but there is urgent business for us to attend while you are leaving. Good luck, and we will see each other again."
This, to me, was a convenient way for the writers to sweep old characters away to make room for new ones. It might have been well done if it hadn't come right up against the show "losing" Nadia and Vaughn. Things are just changing too quickly and storylines we might love to explore are disappearing in the shadow of a new plot and new agenda.
I am not dis-ing the new characters, the new plots, or new show twists. I am only saying that we may be trying too hard to hold on to the romance we had with previous story lines by reading too much into a wink. Frankly, I'd rather be wrong about that and see it turn out just the way you are seeing it.

c'est possible robetron (it's SReneeG from the ABC boards) :) It's probably very likely that we are looking too far into things that end up being perfectly innocent, the wink could be one of them, we'll just have to wait and see!

I slow-mo'd that scene today and Dixon didn't wink. Both eyes closed in a blink, it's just that one eye didn't quite close all the way.
