Tough Guy (Girl)

We all know she's tops on our list, but Sydney Bristow (Jennifer Garner) didn't do too shabby either in TV Guide's latest "Tough Guy" poll coming in at #4, go Syd!!

MacGyver? C'mon. He was a gadget guy. Syd could have his spleen in a jar in 30 seconds or less.

Just more proof that Alias will never die. 2 years after the last show aired, Sydney is still on people's minds.

I guess it depends on how you define tough guy. Some of it has to do with attitude. For instance, when Vaughn hit Lauren in the back of the head with a tire iron and after she was on the ground said,"Hi, Honey," then hit her again; or when Jack shot people or cut parts off of them while interrogating them; or when he got up off the ground with 3 holes in his chest in order to give Syd courage to go stop Irina and then made it down 200 feet of stairs to blow himself up in order to seal Sloane in the tomb- these were pretty tough acts.

I say Sydney Bristow was about as tough as they come, but what did she do that would place her above Vaughn and, more appropriately, Jack as the ultimate TV tough guy?

Vaughn took 489,245 rounds to the midsection and lived to fight another day. Take that, MacGyver!!!

Syd could definitely kick some butt but I also loved the moments when she had the tough guy attitude to boot: "move out of my way, or I'll make you move out of my way."

Vaughn taking those rounds, that's just him being Balls of Steel hehe. ;-)

The guys at NBC must be smoking some bad weed to say "thumbs down" to MOWE after a handful of episodes, while at the same time rolling out yet another steaming pile of Rosie O'Donnell crap, this time "Rosie Live".

Is there one living American who isn't nauseous at the prospect of Rosie returning to their living rooms?

Victor Garber receives 3rd cancellation in as many years as "Eli Stone" joins the dreadful "Pushing Daisies" and the never-seen-by-me "Dirty Sexy Money" in the everlovin' dustbin of TV history. RIP gang, you won't be missed.

That should free VG up to join Amy Acker on "Dollhouse". Who knows, that could work.

Yeah, I can't wait for Amy to call Victor "Grandpa," and then see Victor blow her up by shooting a nearby fire extingusher.
YES!!!

And how about all those times Vaughn took it in the lung and had it collapse; all the times he got conked on the head and he still doesn't have alzhiemers; and all the times he ditched Syd for Lauren- now that's tough!!

One phone call to Jack Bristow and this knob is history.

....and, no, it's not me. Jen currently has NO restraining order affecting me. I'm still good to go.

Yeah I saw the poor girl has been dealing w/ a stalker, not cool, especially around her family. :-\

I was watching a few minutes of "Monster-in-Law", and while Michael Vartan and the lovely J-Lo were in the car cruising along talking about MV's father dying at a young age, my not-so-subconscious was waiting for a car to come out of nowhere and T-Bone them, leading to a season ending cliffhanger.

But what was I thinking? It just went on to be shameless bit o'fluff.

J-Lo is all wrong for him. Okay for me, but all wrong for MV.

I'm almost through S2 of BSG. This is a really good series.

Will the BSG prequel spinoff, "Caprica" be any good, I wonder to myself.

I think it will have a tough time living up to the standards set by BSG, and I can't help but think that it's a tough assignment to roll the clock back 50 years on a series. It's kind of like how do you get hooked on "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles" after you've just watched "Raiders of the Lost Ark"?

Four topics, one post:

Finally caught a glimpse of Mia Maestro on NBC's "Crusoe". I can't watch more than 5 minutes of shows like that (too low tech for me), but anytime I see it's on the tube, I tune in just to see if I can spot one of Irina's girls. Her Olivia looks decidedly un-Nadia-like.
Somehow, I doubt "Crusoe" will manage 5 incredible years.

I watched "Traitor" last night. Good flick with a satisfying conclusion (unless you're a closet Jihadist) if you like that sort of thing, and I do.

I noticed that "Fringe" pulled out a Ray Lamontagne tune last week, something that "Alias" did twice. That's about where the similarities between the two shows end. Speaking of show tunes, before MOWE goes off the air for all eternity, it really should bust out this inspired version of "Don't Let Me Get Me", which sums up the Henward relationship nicely with lines like "I'm a hazard to myself" and "I'm my own worst enemy". It would also serve to address my spy obsession and my Pink obsession at the same time.

One final note regarding music. I watched part of the American Music Awards tonight and I just have to wonder if the goal of every rapper is to look as utterly stupid as a human being can look. I'm talking about you, T-Pain. Oh yeah, I know you're reading this and I'm talkin' boutchoo brotha...YOU LOOK STUPID. You think you're goin' home with Alicia Keys or Beyonce when you're lookin' like that?? Give your hip-hoppin' head a shake, dude.
