Scene Cap of the Week

Izzy loves her Aunt Nadia

Poor Nadia! She wakes from a coma and is given false hope for the future. Thrust into the world of Rambaldi after being found, undercover in the Chechnyan prison, Nadia hasn't had a moments peace. From her evil aunt playing caretaker, to her up and down relationship with her father, her kidnapping by Ana Espinoza, her zombie state and her fight with Sydney, you think the writers would have cut the girl some slack. Nope. She lost Weiss and she lost her life, all in the name of eternal life- how ironic.

I had always figured Sloane was after something to cure his own loss. He was turned on to Rambaldi because the man promised long life- without death, without cancer. He lost Jacqueline, he lost Emily and in the end, he lost Nadia, all the people he wanted to protect, to save, to have with him for all eternity. Sad. Especially for Nadia, who seemed to be an innocent bystandered.

I love this scene because it is a final moment. It is Nadia, returned to the family she always wanted, to her sister and her new neice. The moment is filled with promise, with life- as this woman who nearly died holds a baby- each starting out fresh and new. I also love that Sydney is so proud to show off little Izzy. It is an amazing scene which only makes Nadia's final death scene that much harder to take.

PS. The remaining CD's are out in the mail. Please let me know when you get them! That means you Colleen!

I noticed something recently. Sloane seemed resigned to the necessity of Emily's death when Conrad told him it was a necessary step on his path to Rambaldi. His reaction was the same with Nadia's death. He saw it as part of the sufferring he had to experience as the one chosen to fulfill Rambaldi's endgame- something that was to prepare him for it.

I love this scene - it is probably one of only a few happy moment that Nadia spent on Alias. She was so tortured and yet she had a good attitude about the future. I love that she never really trusted Sloane. She was right on about him. I also love that in this scene (or right before it), Syd actually does show signs of acceptance and trust for Sloane in their preceeding conversation. Syd was so wrong to think he had reformed, but not Nadia, a truly tragic character.

Nadia's life is definitely quite tragic. I'm watching the last quarter of season 2 right now and getting a fresh reminder of how tragic Francie's life was, I'm sure the same will happen when I get up to seasons 4 and 5 with Nadia. That family moment between Syd, Nadia and Isabelle was very precious, nice she at least had one happy moment before her father ruined everything (again).

I agree, lhaaheim, Rifkin played a brilliant Sloane. Slimy, greasy, morally bankrupt. I loved his portrayal. Looking at Rifkin's very lengthy resume, I can't believe how many times I must have seen him in old sitcoms, mini-series, movies, etc...yet when I first laid eyes on Arvin Sloane, there was nothing familiar about him at all to me.

I'm now at the point where I will check out an old movie just to see what Victor Garber looked like 10 years ago, ditto for Rifkin. In your mind's eye, can you honestly picture Jack Bristow playing the part of Liberace? I hope I see that before I die.
