Back from Life, Scene Cap and more...

HELLO! I am back! After a long restful mini-vacation, I am back and ready to get back to work. I hope you all had a safe and fun 4th- but lets get at it. First, scene caps of the day:

You know the fight. We thought it was the end of Vaughn and Syd.

This is an amazing scene, one that really sets the tone for the tension between Sydney and Vaughn throughout the season. I think we all felt ripped apart after this season. It seemed as if Sydney and Vaughn would never return to the Sydney and Vaughn of season 2, but underneath the awkward silences and the triangle with Lauren, we could still see that they cared for each other. I also loved the scene following this, when Sydney visits Vaughn in his classroom to apologize and Vaughn says his piece.

Okay, the books- We will be getting into the third book, "Disappeared." I will have to order mine on Barnes and Noble again. We can all start reading Monday, hopefully that will give you all enough time to pick up your copy.

Speaking of the books- I am scanning back through the first book. Sydney's handler tells her to keep a low profile, fit in with your surroundings, act, walk and talk the same as those around you. So- I ask, why is Sydney always wearing flamboyant wigs and crazy costumes. She seems to stick out more than fit in. Any ideas?

All right, its a slow start, but we'll get back to the deep stuff soon! I am off to watch more season 3.

I love those vaughn pics...soooo yummy. Anyway, If I was an actress I would totally be learning that monologue by heart. Then I would be acting it out for everyone. Sara and I do that part when we are together...good times...good times.

Best scene, love it, watch it over and over all the time. I love how Vaughn is so uneasy and Sydney is so pissed she can hardly get the words out.

That is my all time heart grabber Alias scene.

"I would have waited!" -- That is what Syd's picture screams. "And what a waste that would have been." OUCH! I love that episode. Just watched it the other night, and it nearly kills me everytime. Probably the first hook for the season, that and the Jack/Syd speech in jail.

AliasGirl,
I have watched season 3 a million times, you can hit me with any questions, any time. I have watched all the commentary on each season. Its my favorite part of the DVD's. I love listening to the actors and producers and directors recall certain details about episodes. I love hear the inside stories. I recommend everyone watch the episodes with commentary, especially the season finale of season 1. SOOOO funny!!

Also my all time favorite scene watched over and over again - it is gritty, painful, heartbreaking and it sets the tone for every episode to come regarding their relationship even into S4 when Syd admits in her drug induced state (in Noctural?) that she is worried Vaughn will betray her again. And he did betray her! I mean the timeline between when she died and when he started dating Lauren is like a nanosecond. Syd should have tossed him to the curb (even though he is awesome and we can understand why she couldn't) : )

ugh - did anyone see the emmy nominations yet? Alias only got TWO! Jen was snubbed! WTF!?!
I'm so dissapointed right now.

I have some thoughts on the question regarding the flamboyant wardrobe.

Perhaps, through the course of time, Sydney discovered that the best disguise and best way to blend in is literally to stick out. The best hiding place is out in plain sight, right? No one looks suspiciously at someone who is drawing attention to themselves. The trick is to attract that attention while pulling the slight of hand stunt right before the eyes of those who aren't looking for it.

So, how do you avoid suspicion while boarding a plane when everyone is under some amount of scrutiny? You dye your hair pink, dress in leather with too much make-up and act like a brash, aggresive, punk-talking, trouble-causing young teen. There's no way she could be an international spy, right?

Nice Robby, that is pretty much what I thought. PLus, no one would think Sydney is a spy anyways.

I agree AliasGirl! I think the writers could have come up with plenty more. One, the fact that Jack killed Irina and we were never aware was very un-Alias. Usually the writers show us the secret, and let Sydney stew about it. I thought for sure the information in Wittenberg would have been about Sloane, Irina, Jack and Nadia and their role in the Rambaldi prophecy. I thought it might have secrets about Bill Vaughn and his role. There still is no explaination for S.A.B 47. Is it a mission?

Nothing lauren says in the finale of 3 is ever explained. Did Lauren know that Sloane was working with Elena? Did Lauren know Elena was behind the Covenant? What about Nadia and Sydney being agents. We have talked about this quite a bit. If you look back in the archives for the month of October or November, you may find something having to do with Lauren's speech. I will see if I can find it for you....

AliasGirl,

The Lauren article I wrote is archived in the month of November. Nivember 9th and it's called Loose Ends, with a picture of Lauren at the dig site. Check it out and see if it answers any of your questions.

I agree with Robetron's take on Sydney's flamboyant style. Her frequent strategy of assaulting the senses of her targets with varying degress of flash, brash, and trash, creates for her the room she needs to operate without arousing in the baddies the suspicion that she could be anything more substantial than a bubble-gum popping Paris Hilton spinoff. This is in stark contrast with her home and office style which are really quite conservative...yet hot.

Alias Girl, you're an English major? Me too!! I think its the way we learn about literature. It was kind of like a light bulb for me to watch Alias and see all I learned about characters and plot and literary devices on the show. I love analyzing the show. I love digging deeper. I am glad you like the blog- make sure to join up on MSN Messenger so we can chat sometime. Just add my e-mail girlscout35@hotmail.com
