As of late, there have been some great theories flying around the board about the conclusion to Alias, and even better questions that need to be addressed. One of these questions was brought up by Robetron on the post last week regarding Vaughn's adamant protests that Sydney was not in fact "The Chosen One". He has always been unwavering in his thoughts of Sydney not being the person that would fulfill Rambaldi's final prophecy, and has again, always been the one to pull her back when she was standing on the brink of quitting the CIA. Why? How does he know for certain that she is not "The Chosen One" and why has he gone to such lengths to keep her from walking away? How much more does he know than he has let on? Why was he marked for death and not Renee? Wouldn't she have just as much knowledge of P5's goings on as Vaughn, considering they did their investigation of P5 together? Was his work trying to uncover P5 secrets more about trying to keep Sydney safe in the future?
On the other side of the spectrum, why has Irina always tried to get Sydney out of the CIA? Has she always known about the prophecy and wanted to keep her daughter safe? As happy as she was to see Nadia on the plane after they rescued her from Elena, she did have a shocked reaction as well. Did she realize immediatley that the prophecy was more likely to come true now that her daughter's had met and were working together? I think we have all agreed that the little speech Irina gave Sydney in the bank during her labor was out of character. She has never been mother of the year material, however; that speech about never having wanted children and how Sydney could never manage work and motherhood now seems to me to have been a way to get Sydney to choose motherhood over the CIA, which could possibly save her life.
Who else has known about this prophecy, and are they people who have in the past tried to sway Sydney's decision to either leave or stay with the CIA?
